Split Case Pump

The suction port and discharge port of the Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pump are below the axis of the pump, and the horizontal direction is vertical to the axis. The pump casing is split in the center. There is no need to disassemble the inlet and outlet pipes and the motor during maintenance.

Product Description

Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pump:

The Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pump is also called a single-stage double-suction centrifugal pump. The suction port and discharge port of the Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pumps are below the axis of the pump, and the horizontal direction is vertical to the axis. The pump casing is split in the center. There is no need to disassemble the inlet and outlet pipes and the motor during maintenance.A horizontal split case pump is a unique type of centrifugal pump whose casing is divided into two distinct chambers, which is different from inline or end suction pumps that are assembled with the suction nozzle, discharge nozzle, and casing in one chamber.

The casing can be split vertically or horizontally, relative to the impeller, which gives you either a vertical split case or a horizontal split case pump, respectively. Some manufacturers also offer custom configurations to optimize the pump for specific applications.

Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pump

The main parts of the Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pumps are: pump body, pump cover, impeller, shaft, double suction seal ring, shaft sleeve, bearing, etc.

The pump body and the pump cover constitute the impeller's working room. The water inlet and outlet flanges are equipped with pipe screw holes for installing vacuum gauges and pressure gauges, and the lower part of the water inlet and outlet flanges are equipped with pipe screw holes for water discharge.

The impeller has undergone static balance verification and is fixed with a sleeve and sleeve nuts on both sides. Its axial position can be adjusted by the sleeve nut. The axial force of the impeller is balanced by the symmetrical arrangement of its blades.

There may be some residual axial force that the bearing at the coaxial end bears.

The Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pump shaft is supported by two single-row radial ball bearings. The bearings are installed in the bearing bodies at both ends of the pump body and are lubricated with butter.

The water pump is directly driven by the electric motor through the coupling.

The shaft seal is a soft packing seal. In order to cool and lubricate the seal cavity and prevent air from leaking into the pump, there is a water seal ring between the packing. When the Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pump is working, a small amount of high pressure water flows into the packing cavity through the water seal tube to act as a water seal.

Horizontal split case centrifugal pumps are designed with the suction and discharge nozzles in the bottom half of the casing, side by side, while the impeller shaft is positioned between two bearings, one on each side.

This rugged but simple design is particularly suitable for higher flow applications as it reduces thrust loads and allows for operation over a broad range of capacities. With proper application, ChongMu pumps offer minimal power consumption, low maintenance costs, and extended service life.

Mainly suitable for: clean water and liquids with physical and chemical properties similar to water, (the maximum temperature of the liquid should not exceed 80 ℃), suitable for water supply and drainage in factories, mines, cities, and power stations, farmland drainage irrigation and various water conservancy projects.

Other design features of HSC pumps include:

  • A double suction impeller that offers lower axial thrust and superior Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH)
  • Double volute casing to minimize radial bearing loads
  • Dual pump seals to seal suction pressure

Horizontal split-case (HSC) pumps are used in most industries around the world to move large quantities of fairly clean fluids—usually water—at low to medium pressures. HSC design geometry poses numerous advantages for users.

Advantages of HSC pumps:

  • HSC pumps have a smaller footprint compared with a frame-mounted pump of the same rating (in most cases).
  • The top half of the casing is easy to remove for inspection of the rotor, and you do not need to disturb the driver or the piping to accomplish this inspection.
  • They typically have higher efficiencies than frame-mounted pumps of the same size.
  • Because of the dual-eye (dual-suction) impeller design, there are lower net positive suction head required (NPSHR) factors and lower axial thrust.
  • This design lends itself to a short shaft with the result of low deflection. This article limits the discussion to one- or two-stage HSC pumps with the impeller situated between the bearings; this design is also known as “between bearings” (API 610- BB-1).
  • Typically these pumps offer dual volute construction, which significantly reduces the radial thrust component.

Common applications of horizontal split case (HSC) pumps

These pumps are typically used to carry low-viscosity liquids such as clear water and unsaturated wastewater from industrial processes at average heads.

HSC pumps can be used for higher flow rate applications that are not suitable for end suction pumps, such as fire pumps, portable water distribution, plant make-up water, pipelines, cooling water, and other industrial process flows with fairly thin fluids.

Depending on your specific application, you can opt for either the single stage HSC pump with a head of up to 550 feet at 140,000 gpm, or the multi-stage HSC pump with a maximum head of 2.200 ft, max. operating pressure of 740 psi, and flow range of up to 2,000 gpm, which is suitable for heavy duty, high pressure applications.

Keep in mind that HSC pumps are not suitable for transporting thick or viscous liquids, as well as those containing solids.

The performance parameters are as follows:

Flow range: 50-15000m3/h

Head range: 8-140m

Power:22-1600KW

Maximum efficiency: 90%

Horizontal Split Case Centrifugal Pump

Horizontal split case pumps are in-line pumps in which the pump housing is divided axially into two parts. Horizontal split case pumps are characterized by their high efficiency and low noise levels, as well as how easy they are to service. The pumps are designed to work in a variety of applications, including public water supply, district cooling and HVAC systems.
